Age Limit
Your age will be calculated as of 1 January 2026.
- Minimum Age: 21 Years
- Maximum Age: 35 Years (Born between 2 January 1991 and 1 January 2005).

Educational Qualifications
Both roles require a Graduate degree from a recognized Indian university, along with good knowledge of computer operations and bilingual proficiency (Hindi and English).
- For Kanisth Sahayak: You need a minimum Hindi typing speed of 25 words per minute (WPM) on a computer. Knowing English typing (30 WPM) will give you an added preference!
- For Stenographer Grade-1: You need a minimum Hindi shorthand speed of 80 WPM and Hindi typing speed of 25 WPM. Preference is given to those who also know English shorthand (80 WPM) and English typing (35 WPM).
Exam Pattern & Selection Process
The selection is based purely on a competitive written exam followed by a skill test.
- The Written Exam: Expect a 140-mark, objective-type test covering General Knowledge and General Studies. You will have 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete it.
- Negative Marking: Yes, there is a penalty! Every wrong answer deducts 0.25 marks. Unattempted questions have no penalty.
- Qualifying Marks: General/OBC candidates must score at least 45%, while SC/ST candidates need 35% to pass.
- Skill Test: A separate 60-mark typing and shorthand test will be conducted (qualifying in nature).
